Nolan Burns, 80, loving husband, Dad, brother, uncle, grandpa and great
grandpa, went home to the Lord and his loving wife Clara August 13,
2016. Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 27, 2016 at
Lavon Drive Baptist Church, 1506 Lavon Dr., Garland, TX. with Dr. Gary
Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery,
Van Alstyne, TX. Jimmy was born in Shreveport, LA. to Abbie Juanita and
James Vernon Burns and was the eldest of three sons, one of whom has
departed, Travis Burns. Jimmy graduated from Palestine High School and
was a member of the Glee Club and Industrial Arts. He soon joined the
military and became a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served 7 years
active duty here and abroad in Japan and a Ready Air Reservist until he
was Honorably Discharged in 1962. His military performance reports
reflected his already steady character that would be the foundation of
his life. Exceptional personality, highly respected, dependable, cool
and even temperament, admirable and outstanding among his peers. He had
a level 'Secret' clearance, played basketball and was awarded the
National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal and after military
service became a graduate of the Nixon Business College in Palestine,
TX. Jimmy later became an
Usher at Lavon Drive Baptist Church, the spiritual home of both himself and his loving departed wife of 37 years, Clara Burns. When meeting his family and friends you will hear them comment that they don't know anyone that didn't like him. SURVIVORS: brother, Troy Burns; daughter, Cathy Parolini and husband Gary Bender; son Michael Ayotte (deceased); son Kelly Ayotte and wife Amy; son Randy Ayotte; nephews, Christopher Burns, Jeff Burns (deceased); nieces, Allison Burns, Cheryl Burns; great nephew Tommy Burns; Great niece Allison Burns; grandchildren, Jason, Jeff, Luke, Jake, Tyler and Brienna Ayotte; great grandchildren, Jaedynn, Rhett, Hanna and Miley Ann Ayotte and extended family.
