Sallie Baker 23 March 1898 - 27 March 1943 Dallas Morning News April 1, 1943 Church Worker's Burial Rites Held Funeral services for Miss Sallie Baker of 2203 North Henderson, a resident of Dallas for twenty years and active in church work at the First Baptist Church, were held Wednesday at the Ed C. Smith & Bro. Funeral Chapel, with burial at Van Alstyne, her former home. She died Tuesday. Miss Baker taught for several years in the junior department of the First Baptist Church, until forced to retire because of ill health. She was a native of Grayson County. Dr. George W. Truett conducted the services in Dallas. Pallbearers here were Paul K. McNair, L .L. McNair, James C. Edwards Jr., T. D. Mayo, Carroll D. Williams and Frank B. Spangler. Surviving are two brothers, Harry Baker, Purcell, Okla.; and Victor Baker, Colbert, Okla. A niece, Miss Ruth Baker, and a nephew, C.L. Baker, reside in Dallas.
