Alstyne - Services for George E. Atkins, 73, a retired farmer who died
Sunday at his residence at Rt. 1, Van Alstyne, will be held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday in Flesher Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Hugh Moody, pastor
of the First Christian Church. Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mr. Atkins was born in Tennessee, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Atkins, and married Eva Walsh in October 1933, in Van Alstyne.He was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, son, Frank Atkins of Sherman; daughter, Mrs. Marie Hunter of Van Alstyne; brothers Johnny Atkins of Howe and Jeff Atkins of Van Alstyne; sisters, Mrs. Lillian Davidson of Anna and Mrs. Jane Harris of Nacogdoches, and four grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Herald Democrat Monday, September 6, 1999 Pg. A5 Van Alstyne - Mrs. Eva B. Atkins, 84, of Van Alstyne passed away Saturday in a Sherman hospital. She was born February 9, 1915, to Pat and Ida Martin Walsh of Randolph, Texas. She married G.E. Atkins on November 13, 1933 in Anna, Texas. She was a member of the Baptist faith and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and J.R. Hunter of Van Alstyne and her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Elaine Atkins of Sherman; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two brothers, R.A. Walsh of Randolph, Texas and Hubert Walsh of Merced, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.E. "Hoot" Atkins. Services will be at noon Monday, September 6, 1999, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Pastor Jack Wallace officiating. Interment will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
