Dora Douglas Arnspiger 1875 - 1930 Walter William Arnspiger 1870 - 1925 Van Alstyne Leader November 5, 1925 About ten days ago Walter W. Arnspiger was compelled to take to his bed and call in a physician. Despite the ministrations of the men versed in the art of healing and the devoted nursing of his loved ones on Monday, November 2 the end came. The news of Mr. Arnspiger's death came as a shock to his many friends, some of whom did not know of his illness, and others of whom had no thought as to its being as serious as it developed to be. Mr. Arnspiger was born in Collin county on January 24, 1870, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Arnspiger. On April 3, 1893, he was married to Miss Dora Douglas, a member of a prominent family of the Weston community in which he resided. To this union were born two sons, Oren Arnspiger of Pilot Point and David Arnspiger of Denison, both of whom, with their mother survive. Surviving also are two brothers, Lee and John Arnspiger of Van Alstyne, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Bowen of Denton, and his mother, Mrs. Susan Arnspiger. In 1910 Mr. Arnspiger was converted and became a member of the First Methodist Church, remaining until his death a most loyal and devoted adherent of the faith in which he believed. At the time of his death, Mr. Arnspiger was 55 years, 9 months, and 8 days old. Walter Arnspiger was in many respects an unusual man. By nature of a quiet disposition, the most casual contact impressed all who knew him with a feeling of that peculiar confidence always justified when placed in a man of that character. His was not that disposition which either intrudes or makes itself conspicuous, nor was his that inclination which leans toward any great outward manifestation whether in speech or in action. He was more of the opposite, calm at all times, concentrated, slow of speech, reserved, all earmarks of the man in whom trust can be placed and on whom reliance is always safe. His daily walks among his fellow-man, his life as a Christian and as an adherent of his faith, his attitude as a husband and father, and his relations as a neighbor and friend, all bespoke and emphasized the high order of his character and the depth and sincerity of his professions. Among the people of this community and at Weston, where he was best known, and with whom he had the most contact, there is a unanimous feeling and knowledge that another of nature's noblemen, those quiet monitors of destinies of other people whose influence is more felt than observed, has passed into the rest provided for those whose tasks on earth are well performed. Funeral services for Mr. Arnspiger held on Monday afternoon at the First Methodist Church were largely attended by friends from all parts of this community and section. Revs. C.B. Fielder, the pastor, Rev. Leo Johnston, pastor of the Christian Church and Rev. F.C. Dick, pastor of the Baptist Church, officiated at the service. The services were impressive and the eulogies of the ministers found abundant room for the paying of high tribute in the example of the life and the character of the friend and brother who has gone before. Interment was had at the local cemetery where a profusion of flowers covered the grave in which was laid to their final rest the mortal remains of this splendid man and citizen of exemplary character and integrity. To the family and relatives the most sincere sympathy of all of the people of this community goes out. The pallbearers were as follows: Active - J.E. Eatherly, J.L. Turberville, G.T.
