Robert
Spencer Taylor, 65, of Houston passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, James N. Taylor and Gwenlyn
Parker Taylor, formerly of Van Alstyne, TX. He is survived by his
sister, Dorothy Taylor Bloom of Erie, PA; his nephew, Christopher Bloom
(and his wife, Ellen Kuhn, and son, Owen) of Columbia, MD; and his
niece, Alexis Bloom of Chicago. Born in 1950 in Laredo, TX, Spence (as
he was known by most of his friends) moved to Houston as a young child
and briefly to Orange, TX, before returning to the Houston area, where
he graduated from Pearland High School. He attended the University of
Texas before becoming a salesman ultimately for Gillman Pontiac in
Houston, retiring several years ago. In his spare time, Spence enjoyed
watching movies and listening to all kinds of music, and he loved to
dance. The family would like to thank his longtime physician, Dr. Sameh
Aziz, as well as the doctors, nursing staff, and case managers at North
Cypress Hospital, who cared for him in his final days. The family is
also grateful for the help and concern of Spence’s neighbors, as well
as the management and staff at Morningside Green Apartments, where he
has resided for many years. There will be a graveside service at the
Van Alstyne Cemetery on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. Friends may
contribute flowers or to the charity of their choice in his name.
Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home &
Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas. 903-482-5225.
