Funeral
services for K. Gaines, 80, who lived at
722 W. Morgan, were held
Wednesday morning, April 27 at
Bratcher-Moore chapel with Rev. R. L.
Hutson officiating. Burial was in Van
Alstyne with Bratcher-Moore in
charge of arrangements. Gaines died in a
local hospital April 25 after
a year's illness.
Gaines, a native of Estill, Tennessee, had
lived in Denison fifty
years. He was born January 20, 1875, the
son of Mr. & Mrs. James
Gaines. He was married in Van Alstyne in
1897 to Josephine Hammonds. He
was a retired Katy fireman. He held
membership in the B. of R. T. and
the B. of LF & E.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. K. Gaines,
722 W. Morgan; four sons, Ward
Gaines, Dallas; C. C. Gaines,
Independence, Kans.; Harry and Dwight of
Denison; two daughters, Mrs. Weldon Webb,
Dallas, and Mrs. Maurice
Mancil, Dallas; 10 grandchildren and 6
great-grandchildren.
