for Donald Lee Wilcox 84 of Richardson will be held Wednesday at 11:00
am at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne. The family will
receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial
will follow in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. He was born May 10, 1931 in Knoxville, Tennessee to George and Hazel Mitchell Wilcox. He married Mary Vandagriff October 6, 1958 in Irving, Texas. An accomplished engineer and aviator, Don shared his love of flying with his wife and two sons. He appreciated acquiring and sharing knowledge so much that he took on the role of scholastic instructor more than once. During his life, Don was a marathon runner and a veteran of the United States Air Force. In his later years, he joined the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and designed his own aircraft. He will be remembered as a man who would always strive to give his best, as well as learn from his mistakes. He is survived by his wife Mary Wilcox of Richardson. Sons and their wives: Scott and Misty Wilcox of Dallas and Steven and Cassandra Wilcox of Fort Worth. Sister: Sonja Solorzano of Tampa Florida. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.
