October 14, 1982 Services for James Evans Young, 40, of Grand Prairie were held Tuesday in Flesher Funeral Home with burial in Van Alstyne Cemetery. He died Saturday in an Arlington hospital. Mr. Young was born in Sherman, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Young, Jr. He was a printer at the Kennedy Space Center and was a member of the Presbyterian church. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Laura Lee Young of Grand Prairie; his father, of Tennessee; and sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Beasbochea of Arlington  Laura Lee Young 8 August 1920 - 8 October 1999 Van Alstyne Leader
Thursday, October 14, 1999 Pg. 7 Laura Young Friends were sorry to learn of the death recently of Mrs. Laura Lee Douglas Young, Van Alstyne native, who died in Arlington on Oct. 8, 1999. Services were held in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Van Alstyne on Oct. 12. She was born here on Aug. 8, 1920 to Mr. and Mrs. Willie Douglas, who ran an old-time "nickel store" on Main Street in the early 1920s and 1930s. Grandparents on both sides of her family were pioneer settlers of Grayson and Collin counties. In her youth, she joined the local First Christian Church. She graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 1937, and follownig business training in Dallas, worked at the Federal Reserve Bank. In 1942, she married J.L. Young, Jr. of Texarkana. After residing many years in California and Florida, she has been living in Grand Prairie. Before retirement, she worked in sales at Dillard's and J.C. Penney's in Irving Mall. She took great pleasure in attending the Van Alstyne school reunions and visiting with old friends in this She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Evans Douglas, and her son, James Evans Young. Surviving are her daughter, May Beascoehea and granddaughter, Jocelyn Beascoehea, Fort Worth; nephew Andy Douglas Epps of Pampa, and cousins, Dr. James Robert Greening and Mrs. Mary Jane Hutchinson of Dallas, Marjorie Creed Deford of Garland, and their families, and Leslie Armour Taylor of Austin.
