June 21, 1990 P.3 Services for Norman Claude Speck, 100, of Gunter were held Saturday in Flesher Funeral Home and burial in Van Alstyne Cemetery. He died June 13 in Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman. Mr. Speck was born in Van Alstyne, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan L. Speck, and married Ollie Mae McNew in Van Alstyne in November 1910. After he retired from farming in 1947, he and his wife operated a cafe in Gunter; He drove cattle truck, worked in a Fort Worth aircraft plant and did plumbing work in Gunter. He was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Surviving are his sons, Claude Speck of Sherman and Charles W. Speck of Killeen; daughters, Gladys Canada of Gunter, Winnie Arrington of Irving and Wanda Moore of Denison; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Brad Nass, Scott Nass, Shawn Elliott, Trevor Richards, Rodney Floyd, Doug Speck and Pete Speck.
