- Services for Marvin L. McMenamy, 81, retired plumber of Allen who
died Thursday at his home, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Flesher
Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.
Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery. A Texas native, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin McMenamy and married Ona Bell Ballard on Dec. 21, 1916 at Westminster. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Alstyne. Surviving are his wife; daughters, Mrs. Jaunita Wortham of Forney, Miss Vaunda McMenamy of Richardson, Mrs. LaJuana Robertson of McKinney, Mrs. Gwendolyn Marr of Van Alstyne, Mrs. Kathryn Rogers of Murphy and Mrs. Theresa Conger of Balch Springs; sons, Bobby McMenamy of Allen, Lindy McMenamy of Plano; 32 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. Herald Democrat
March 10, 2000 Page A9 ONA BELLE McMENAMY FARMERSVILLE - Services for Ona Belle McMenamy, 98-year-old Farmersville resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Flesher Funeral Chapel in Van Alstyne. She died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at North Central Medical Center in McKinney. The Rev. Bob Layman will officiate with burial in Van Alstyne Cemetery. Surviving are her sons, Bobby McMenamy of Allen, Lindy McMenamy of Windsor, Mo., Charles McMenamy of Melissa and Larry McMenamy of Parker, Texas; daughters, Juanita Wortham of Forney, Vaunda McMenamy of Richardson, Gwen Marr of Van Alstyne, Kathy Rogers of Fairview and Theresa Conger of Balch Springs; brother, Wade Ballard of Trenton; sister, Blanche Monk of Gunter; 30 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral chapel in Van Alstyne from 6 to 8 p.m Friday, and other times at the Gwen Marr residence, 908 N. Waco in Van Alstyne. Van Alstyne, Texas -- Vaunda Belle McMenamy was born on February 21, 1923 in Mesquite, Texas to
M. L. (Mack) and Ona (Ballard) McMenamy. She passed from this life at 10:00 a.m. on July 09, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. The family moved to Van Alstyne, Texas and Vaunda spent her formative years in the VA school system. She graduated in the class of 1941. Shortly after completing school she moved to Dallas to begin her career and never married. Her younger siblings were her children, and the nieces and nephews her grandchildren. Vaunda was strong, loving, smart, (she never stopped learning and forget trying to beat her in trivia, impossible) but most of all she was loyal and steadfast to a fault. Her parents, two brothers and four sisters precede her in death. Survivors include three brothers, Bobby of Bonham, TX, Charles (and wife Doris) of Denison, TX, Larry (and wife Betty) of Parker, TX and two sisters Gwen Marr and Kathy Rogers-Farrell both of Van Alstyne, TX and numerous nieces and nephews and special cousins Pauline Tyler and Loveta Franklin of Arlington, TX. Services will be held at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas Wednesday July 12, 2017. Visitation at 1:00 p.m., with funeral services at 2:00 p.m., burial to follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W.
