Our Lord and Savior has called another servant home. He served our country and our community. He didn’t know a stranger and would give you the shirt off of his back. We will miss all his stories.

Leslie Doyle Martin passed away Thursday at his home. He married Oneta Faye Chandler on September 9, 1938. He served in World War II with the Army Air Corps. He retired from General Services Administration.

He is survived by his wife Oneta from Grand Prairie, his son Les and daughter in law Dee from Pottsboro, Grandson Brett from Sherman, granddaughter Shonna Hamm and husband Brian from Ft. Knox KY., granddaughter Christy Robinson and husband Brian from Sherman, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sisters Shirley Cox from Lake Charles La., June Ringness of Dallas, and Mary Ruth McKinney of Hardin TX., He was preceded in death by his son Larry Don, parents Jim and Minnie, brothers Carl MIA over the South Pacific, Marlin, Cecil, Clifford, Chester, Aubrey and sister Lucy Jameson.

Services will be 2:00PM, Monday September 14, 2015 at Scoggins Funeral Home and Crematory in Van Alstyne with Rev. Jimmy Tarrent officiating. Full military honors will follow immediately at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Massey Jr., Bob McKinney, Ronnie Stephens, Jeff Ringness, Greg Ringness and Frankie Chandler. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

The Lord has called another beautiful angel home. Oneta Faye Chandler Martin passed on Friday, April 9th. She was born July 30, 1922 to Willie and Edna Chandler. She married Leslie Doyle Martin of Van Alstyne on September 9, 1938. She retired from Montgomery Ward after years of service.
She is survived by her son Les and daughter-in-law Dee Martin from Pottsboro, grandson Brett Martin from Sherman, granddaughter Shonna Hamm and husband Brian from McKinney, granddaughter Christy Robinson and husband Brian from Sherman, 13 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Don, her husband Leslie, her parents, her sisters- Ina and Winnell, and her brothers- Frank, Offord, Dean, Clovis, Olan, Bill and J.L.
A come and go viewing will be Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 11am - 5pm. Graveside service will be at 3pm Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Van Alstyne Cemetery with Reverend Mark Fletcher officiating. The family welcomes all who would like to join them at Hucks Catfish after the graveside service.
