Genealogy Collection Funeral Cards Sgt. Earl L. Elder was born in Van Alstyne, Texas October 26, 1938, the son of S.P. and the late Mrs. Zephyr Elder. He graduated from Fred Douglass High School in Sherman, Texas in 1957. In 1959 he married Miss Georgia M. Payton of Sherman and to this union five children were born. For the past seven years he has been serving his Country in the United States Army. Tuesday, August 26, 1969, he departed this life along with three of his children in Selma, Alabama. Survivors besides his wife include two daughters: Bridgett and Myrtle, Selma, Alabama; father, S.P.Elder, Los Angeles California; one brother, S-Sgt. Robert Elder, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; four sisters: Mrs. Lillian Boddie, Texarkana, Texas, Mrs. Veareece Harris, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Misses Carolyn Faye and Sandra Elder, Ft. Genealogy Collection Funeral Cards Mrs. Georgia Mae Elder was born in Sherman, Texas December 12, 1941, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Payton. She graduated from Fred Douglass High School in 1960 and was married to the late Earl Elder. Before moving her membership to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Denison, she was a member of Greater New Baptist Church in Sherman. Wednesday, September 3, 1969 she departed this life. Mrs. Elder's departure follows the services of her two daughters, Ramona and Natisha and her son Rodney. Survivors besides her two daughters, Bridgette and Myrtle, Selma, Alabama are her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.D.Payton, Sherman; four sisters, Mrs. Jacob Giles, Mrs. Sammie Rhodes, Mrs. Kenneth Phea and Mrs. George Richardson, Los Angeles, California, and Texas, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Payton, Beaumont, Texas, several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
