Martin, 85, of Van Alstyne passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Meadowbrook Care Center. Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne. Joe Harker and John C. Martin officiated, with burial following at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Van Alstyne, daughter of Johnnie Clyde Christian and Versie Vera Lay. She married Harvey Martin on March 11, 1943 in Van Alstyne. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1980. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Van Alstyne. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Surviving are two sons, John C. Martin and his wife, Carolyn of Lewisville, Texas and Robert Martin and his wife, Patti of Sherman; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, J.C. Christian and his wife, Beverly of Bonham, Texas and Ralph Christian and his wife, Edna of Whitewright, Texas. Flesher Funeral Home of Van Alstyne had charge of arrangements.
