O. S. YODER PASSES TO
REWARD THURSDAY NIGHT

After a week's final illness in a Sherman hospital, O. S. T. passed away last Thursday night at the age of 75. Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. O. Duckworth. Pallbearers were Henry Hynds, Byron V. Aker, Hendrix Lewis, Robert Veazey, Carlyle B. Moore, Dow Spencer. Interment was in the City Cemetery. Flesher Funeral Home directed.
Oron Samuel Yoder was born in Goshen, Indiana on June 11, 1881. After attending a business college in Salina, Kansas, he moved to Fort Worth in 1906. It was here he met and married Alice White in 1908. The family moved in . . . Van Alstyne during which time he was associated with his brother, D. P. Yoder in the ice and electric business. He moved back to Fort Worth in. . . and then came back here in . . . where he lived the rest of his life. He was in the auto business in 1917 here. In 1925 he organized the Yoder Funeral Home, and engaged L. K. Fox as manager. Later he sold out to Mr. Fox and served as a director of the Continental State Bank here, was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
He was an ardent fisher and enjoyed many trips to Lake Texoma. With his lathe and. . . tools at the rear
of the gar. . . showroom, he fashioned many beautiful lamps and other. . . when he felt the urge. He had a host of friends who mourn his passing.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Carter Yoder and Leonard Yoder; by one sister, Mrs. C. Brassey of San Diego Calif. And by one brother, Carl Yoder of Dallas.


Mrs. O. S. Yoder Laid To Rest Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Whyte Yoder were held Thursday afternoon  at 2:30 in the First Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Sale Lilly, Jr.  Pallbearers were Byron Whitaker, Dow Spence, Earl Jones, Robert Veazey, Robt. Fielder and Robert Hynds.  Interment was in the Van Alstyne cemetery, under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home.  Mrs. Yoder was the widow of the late O. S. Yoder, and passed away at her home here Tuesday evening at 7:10.
Mrs. Yoder was born in Arkansas on Oct. 29, 1880.  She had been a resident of Van Alstyne for many years.  She was a member of the Methodist Church, being past president of the Woman's Society of Christian Service.  She was a past president of The Culture Club.  She was a gentlewoman, friendly, loyal,
and leaves a host of friends to mourn her passing.
She is survived by two sons; O. Carter Yoder and Howard W. Yoder of Van Alstyne; by one grandchild; by three brothers, Frank C. Whyte of Hattiesburg, Miss., Oscar Whyte of Springtown, Texas, and . . .  Whyte of Belen, New Mexico; and by a sister, Mrs. Nannie McCormick of Fort Worth.
