Services for Joe Dunn Vermillion, 68, of Van Alstyne were held Monday in Flesher Funeral Home with burial in Van Alstyne Cemetery. H died Friday in Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Mr. Vermillion was born in Altoga, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Vermillion and married Mildred Noles Nov. 17, 1933 in McKinney. He was a member of the Van Alstyne First Baptist Church, Mantua Lodge No. 209 and the Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife of Van Alstyne; son, Ronald Lee Vermillion of Houston; sisters, Love Priest of Grand Prairie, May Cate of Van Alstyne and Wilma Stiff, Bonnie Vermillion and Leta Howard of Denton; brother, Mark Vermillion of Grand Prairie; and four grandchildren.

VAN ALSTYNE - Services for Mildred Vermillion, 86-year-old Van Alstyne resident, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel. She died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002.
The Rev. Jimmy Tarrant will officiate and an Eastern Star Service will take place at the close of the service. Burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mrs. Vermillion was born on Nov. 18, 1916 in Cullman County, Alabama, daughter of Gaines Washington Noles and Minnie Jewel Preston Noles. She was a graduate of North Texas State Teacher's College High School and attended Grayson Junior College. She married Joe Dunn Vermillion Nov. 17, 1933 in McKinney.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Van Alstyne and a charter member of the Leah Elliot Chapter 1119 Order of the Eastern Star. She worked at Sanger Brothers' Department Store and Guiberson Diesel Engine Company until moving to Van Alstyne in 1950, where she worked for 20 years and retired from Texas Instruments as a quality controller.
