January 20, 1938 p1 Mrs. W. T. Thornton Buried Here Sunday Funeral services for Mrs. W. T. Thornton, age 64, were held Sunday, January 16th, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank Johnston officiating, assisted by Rev. W. J. Epting of Celina. As Miss Lean Blassingame, was born in Slab Town, South Carolina, Marcy 22, 1874. She moved to Van Alstyne with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Blassingame December 1891. She was married to W. T. Thornton March 20, 1895. To this union, four children were born, all of whom survive. They moved to Oklahoma in 1918 where they made their home ever since. Mrs. Thornton was converted at an early age and joined the Baptist church of which she was a faithful member until her death, Friday, January 14th at her home in Soper, Oklahoma. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, and a friend to all who knew her. Surviving are her husband, W. T. Thornton, Soper, Okla; four children, Lile of Van Alstyne, Boone of California, Mrs. Ray Riley, H___, Okla, and W. T. Jr. of Durant, Okla; her mother, Mrs. A. H. Blassingame of Celina, and two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Bowen of Dallas and Mrs. G. V. Bray of Celina. Interment was held at the Van Alstyne Cemetery with Karl Van Deren Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Lee Veazey, C. E. Brown, J. B. Bailey, J. O. Baker, J. A. Douglas and L. P. Welker. Those attending from out-of-town were: Mrs. A. H. Blassingame, Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Bray; Mr. and Mrs. Paul O'Brien, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Holloway, Rev. W. J. Epting, Mr. and Mrs. George Jenkins, Mrs. and Mrs. Smith Stagner, Mrs. Garland McKnight, Mrs. Tuck Jones and Mrs. Joe Mann, all of Celina. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thornton of Mabank, Sam Thornton and sons, Tracy, Otis and Truett of DeKalb, Miss Margaret Bray, Sherman, Jim Bray and sisters, Mildred and Myra of Dallas, Otis Cottrell and Miss Mildred Cottrell of Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hess, and Mrs. G. R. Hess of Farmersville, Gilbert R. Hess and Miss Elizabet Hess, Farmersville, Otto Crockett of Dallas, Mrs. and Mrs. A. L.
