MRS RICHARD THORNTON
DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Cancer took . . . the person of Mrs. Richard Marine Thornton, who passed away in the Methodist Hospital in Dallas Wednesday night at eight o'clock. She had been in the hospital since Dec. 1.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at ten o'clock, conducted by Rev. Jesse Pugh and Rev. Paul . . .  Pallbearers were Carlyle Moore, Henry Hynds, Bill Powell, Jess Roper, Sylvester Williams and Glen Page. Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Mrs. Thornton was born on Sept. 29, 1898, in Texas. She was the widow of the late Jake Thornton, who passed away Aug. 28, 1955. She was a member for many years of the First Christian Church here.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Chandler, Sr. of Dallas,  one brother, John Chandler Jr. of Dallas, one sister, Mrs. Wanda Campbell of Dallas; by two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ben ___ and Mrs. Raymond Purcell of Anna; also by a number of nieces and nephews.
