Winfred Thornhill, a 72 year old man from Sherman, passed away
Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Hilltop Haven in Gunter. He was born
January 20, 1937 in George West, Texas, son of Vernon Ned Thornhill and
Ruby Agness Sparks Thornhill. He married Mary Sue Watkins October
14, 1955 in Andrews, Texas. He is preceded in death by his
parents; three brothers, Delwin, Dolan, and Olin Thornhill; two
sisters, Nelda and Zelda Thornhill; sister-in-law, Thelma Thornhill;
and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Thornhill. He is survived by his
wife Mary Sue of Sherman, Texas; six sons, Billy W. Thornhill of
McKinney, Texas; Alton M. Thornhill and wife Glenda of El Reno,
Oklahoma; Timothy R. Thornhill of Sherman, Texas; Roger D. Thornhill
and wife Sheila of Melissa, Texas; Ernest G. Thornhill of Sherman,
Texas; and Nathan A. Thornhill and wife Lisa of Turlock, California;
one daughter, Christi Combs and husband Tim of Park, Arkansas; twenty
three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin
Thornhill and wife Mary of Pine Mills, Texas; two sisters, Estalene
Murphy and husband James of Ira, Texas; Velma Dugan and husband Larry
of Big Springs, Texas; three sister-in-laws, Rosa Lee Thornhill of
Doboll, Texas, Melba Thornhill of Van Alstyne, Texas; Esther Thornhill
of Washington, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Peace
Tabernacle in Trenton under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home with
Wayne Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne
Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from
