Rebecca Frances Stout 1852 - 1929 Mrs. S. T. Stout Died Tuesday Morning Mrs. S.T.Stout, 77 years, 2 months and 10 days old, died at the home of her son, O.A.Stout here, at 5:50 Tuesday morning. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the First Methodist Church here, conducted by the Rev.F.B.Wheeler of Dallas, Rev.A.A.Kidd, pastor First Methodist Church here and the Rev.R.T.Percifal, pastor Methodist Church at Howe. Mrs. Stout was born Jan. 29, 1852 in Subligna, Georgia. She was married Jan. 30, 1873 at Subligna, Georgia. In December, 7th, 1894 she with her family came to Texas locating at Howe, where she made her home until two years ago, when she and her husband moved to Van Alstyne, making their home with their son, O.A.Stout, agent for the Texas Electric Railway here. She was a member of the Methodist church for sixty-four years. Besides her husband, S.T.Stout of Van Alstyne, she is survived by four children; Mrs.G.W.Young, and H.T.Stout, Howe; W.D.Stout, Sherman, and O.A.Stout, Van Alstyne, and by eight grandchildren, Sam W. Van Alstyne Leader pg.8 S.T. Stout Celebrates His 92nd Birthday S.T. Stout, Grayson county pioneer, celebrated his ninety-second birthday Friday at the home of his son, O.A. Stout. Mr. Stout has been confined to his bed for a number of months, but is cheerful and likes to talk of early days in Texas. He has four children living, Mrs. G.W. Young, Horace Stout and William D. Stout, all of Howe, and O.A. Stout of Van Alstyne, with whom he makes his home. He is a master Mason, has been a member of the Methodist church since childhood and before his illness had read the Bible through 86 times, without the aid of glasses. Van Alstyne Leader April 20, 1939 pg.1 FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR STEPHEN TAYLOR STOUT, 93 Van Alstyne Resident Since Year of 1876 Stephen Taylor Stout, 93, died at the home of his son, O.A. Stout, here at 12:30 a.m. Monday. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist church with the Rev. L.E. Stanford of Greenville, former local pastor, officiating. The Rev. Woodrow Adcock of Howe and the Rev. C.S. Wilhite, local pastor, assisted. Burial was in the Van Alstyne cemetery, with Fox-Fanning in charge. Born at Charleston, Tenn., May 13, 1845, Mr. Stout spent his early boyhood there, then moved to Georgia with his parents, where he was married to Miss Rebecca Smith of Chattanooga county, Georgia, Jan. 30, 1876. They moved to Texas in the fall of that year, locating at Howe, where Mr. Stout farmed until his health failed. Eleven years ago with with Mrs. Stout he came to Van Alstyne to make his home with his son, where Mrs. Stout died April 11, 1929. Mr. Stout was a master Mason, holding his membership with the Howe lodge. He had been a member of the Methodist church since he was 14 years old. Before his health failed he read the New Testament thru 86 times within seven years, without glasses. Survivors include three sons, O.A. Stout of Van Alstyne, W.D. Stout and H.T. Stout of Howe; one daughter, Mrs. Maud Young of Howe; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers named were Richard Stout, Forrest Stout, Sam Young, Hollis Young, Howard Hartley and Oren Hanna.
