VAN ALSTYNE - Mrs. Nora Carter Stinnett, 65 years old, died at her home here Tuesday morning at 11:55 o'clock, following a long illness. Mrs. Stinnett had been a resident of Texas for about fifty years, and had lived for the entire period in this section.
She was a native of Cave City, Ky., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Carter, born March 3, 1864. At an early age she came to Texas, accompaning her parents and made her home with them at Mantua, Collin county.
In December 1881, she was married to W. M. Stinnett, and continued to reside at Mantua until 1900, when with her husband, she moved to Van Alstyne, and has since made her home here.
Mrs. Stinnett had been a member of the M. E. church, South, for 29 years, and had taken active part in the work of the women's organizations in that denomination.
Funeral arrangements have not been made, pending arrival of relatives living in other places.
Surviving are her husband, a son, Orr Stinnett of Van Alstyne, a daughter, Mrs. W. A. Talon of Colfax, Texas, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two of her grandchildren, Billy and Lenora Manning, have been reared by Mrs. Stinnett. A brother George Carter of Savoy and two sisters, Mrs. George Cullers of Slaton, Texas, and Mrs. J. W. Sweeny of Savoy, also survive.
