Skipworth 24 August 1915 - 26 June 1997 Sherman Democrat Friday, April 4, 1975 Van Alstyne - Services for Virgil Clarence Skipworth, 68, of Van Alstyne, a retired farmer who died Friday at a Sherman hospital, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Flesher Funeral Chapel here, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Scott and the Rev. J.L. Gregory. Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mr. Skipworth was born in Texas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Skipworth. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and married Ruth Jordan June 3, 1960, in Van Alstyne. Surviving are his wife; sisters, Miss Bennie Skipworth and Mrs. Dorothy Vanderford, both of Dallas; brothers, Leonard Skipworth and Pascal Skipworth, both of Denison. Pallbearers are Jack Strickland, Glen Whitaker, Don Grider, Ray Hawkins, Hugh Neill and Houston Murphree.
