Edward Glen Skipworth 21 February 1923 - 17 February 2010 The Herald Democrat February 18, 2010 VAN ALSTYNE - Edward Glen "Buddy" Skipworth, 86-year-old Van Alstyne resident, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 19 at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne with Rev. Andrew Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mr. Skipworth was born on February 21, 1923 in Van Alstyne, son of Ed Skipworth and Helen Aaron. Buddy was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and served in the South Pacific. He received the Purple Heart and was a member of the American Legion. He was a nurse at the VA Hospital in Bonham. He was a Christian and a member of the Baptist church. He is survived by daughters, Gail Harris and husband, Odis of Aledo, and Shelly Mills of Denton; son, Richard Skipworth of Lake Dallas; sisters, Billie Vawter and husband, Carl of Van Alstyne, and Sue Grice of Longview; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
