Alstyne, Texas -- Lila Mae Grimes Shivers, 92, passed away
surrounded by family on December 25, 2015. She was born on May 3, 1923
in Woodville, TX and was the daughter of John and Willie Grimes.
She was a fun loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her interests were her grandchildren, bridge and sports. She was a past President of the WGA of Champions Golf Club (Houston) and started numerous bridge clubs. She volunteered as a scorekeeper for many professional golf tournaments, including the 1969 Ryder Cup. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Jerry Shivers and brothers Pete and JW Grimes. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Barbara Shivers, her two grandchildren, Cale and Cameron Shivers, and nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held at Van Alstyne Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016. In lieu of flowers please make donation to the Van Alstyne Cemetery Association, PO.
