Shelley Buried Here Monday Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Howe Methodist church for Mrs. J.L.Shelley, 64, who died Sunday at 2 a.m. in a Sherman hospital. The Rev. Woodrow Adcock, pastor, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Ben Bell of Whitewright and Dr. C.A.Spraggins, superintendent of the Sherman district. Interment was in the Van Alstyne cemetery, directed by Talley of Sherman. Mrs. Shelley was born Nov. 23, 1874 in Willow Grove, Tenn., as Martha Alice Patterson, daughter of John J. and Alice Carlock Patterson. She was married to Dr. Shelley in 1899 at Oakley, Tenn. They came to Grayson county in 1902 and settled at Gunter where they lived four years. They then moved to Howe where they had since resided. Mrs. Shelley was a member of the Methodist church. She had taught a Bible class for 10 years. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. A.W.Penn of Austin; one son, Paul P. Shelley of St. Petersburg, Fla., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Patterson of Willow Grove, six sisters, Mrs. J.M.Gray of Celina, Mrs. George A. Anderson of Willow Grove, Mrs. Ona Vaughn of Oakley, Tenn., Mrs. George Coffee of Livingston, Tenn., and Mrs. C.A.Summerlin and Mrs. Anderson Moore of Lake Providence, La. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Billy and Julia Myrle Penn of Austin, and Jane Shelley of St. Petersburg, Fla.
