Thursday, August 15, 1974 pg.1 5-year-old drowns Friday in Lake Texoma accident Lake Texoma claimed its 199th victim last Friday about noon when Traci Lea Dobbins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ray Dobbins of Howe, drowned in the lake. The accident occurred about 8 miles east of Kingston, Oklahoma in the Cat Fish Bay area at Lake Texoma State Park when the 5-year-old apparently wandered away from a campsite and into the water. Corps of Engineers Park Manager Cliff Hayes said there were several camp sites in the area, but there were apparently no witnesses to the drowning. The child's body was recovered about 2:05 p.m. in about 7 feet of water by members of the Corps of Engineers. Several Howe families had been camping at the site for several days, and were preparing to return home when the drowning occurred. Traci was born June 18, 1969. She is survived by her parents; a brother, Steven Ray Dobbins of the home; a grandmother, Mrs. Wilda Christian of Paris; great-grandmother, Mrs. Lottie Dobbins of Van Alstyne; and great-grandfather, Wade Enlow of Tom Bean. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne, with interment in the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
