W. H. Pendleton 5 April 1855 - 11 May 1900 Van Alstyne News
Friday, May 18, 1900 pg. 3 DIED Mr. W.H. Pendleton, (Senior member of the firm of Pendleton & Thornton, merchants of this place), died May 11th, at his home 1 mile south of Van Alstyne. Mr. Pendleton had apparently been in excellent health until a week prior to his death, at which time a small pimple formed on his knee, causing inflammation. Athough constantly attended by physicians their efforts proved unavailing. Erysipelas set up in the member gradually extending to the body, causing death. Deceased has been a member of this community for 20 years, and no one stood higher in the estimation of those who knew him. In his death Van Alstyne loses an exemplary citizen; the church a consecrated member, and the community an upright honest man. Interment was at the Van Alstyne cemetery under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. of which order deceased was a leading member. CARD OF THANKS The relatives and friends of the late W.H. Pendleton feel a deep sense of appreciation for the great kindness and sympathy shown them by neighbors and friends in their sad bereavement, and take this method of expressing the same to those whom they cannot see in person.
