Monday 1 May 1989 Page: A86 Services for John Haynes Owen, 88, of Gunter will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne. He died Saturday evening at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital in Sherman. Dr. Scott Jordan of First Baptist Church in Gunter will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Flesher Funeral Home will direct funeral arrangements. Mr. Owen was born June 14, 1900 in Erant County, Texas. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Owen. Mr. Owen married Nova Bledsoe May 21, 1924 in Howe. He was a retired framer and rancher and a member of First Baptist Church in Gunter. Survivors include his wife of Gunter; two daughters, Mrs. Jonnie Tate of Luella and Mrs. Melva Joy Thompson of Allen; three sisters, Mrs Mattie Lee Tate of Stephenville, Mrs. Lula Davidson of Welaco and Mrs. alma Harrison of Gunter; one brother, Alva Garland Owen of Fort Worth; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Flesher Funeral Home's chapel. Scott Jordan will officiate. Burial will be at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Flesher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include daughters, Jonnie Tate of Luella and Melva Joy Thompson of Allen; sister, Ruth Ruffin of Abernathy; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
