Van Alstyne, Texas -- Funeral services for Wilda Gertrude Offill will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, at First United Methodist Church of Van Alstyne.  Burial will follow the services at Van Alstyne Cemetery. 

Mrs. Offill was born on December 10, 1929, in Henderson, Texas; the daughter of Orson and Clara Patton. Wilda grew up in Henderson, Texas.  Her family moved to Dallas when she was a teenager and she graduated from North Dallas High School.  She married the love of her life, Dan Offill on May 27, 1950.  They made their home in Dallas until 1963 at which time they moved back to Van Alstyne, Dan’s hometown.  Wilda was a stay at home mom until 1981 when she went to work, until her retirement, for the Van Alstyne Independent School District.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and devoted her free time to teaching Sunday school and being a room mom for her children at school.  She loved to paint which she displayed in her home.  She was also an avid reader and enjoyed her kids and grandkids.  Her favorite passion was her family and the family gatherings that would take place at home or the picnics at their land.  Her other passions included attending her children’s school events, sporting events and church activities. Surviving are her sons, Danny and wife Vicki Offill, Chris and wife Sherri Offill, Tommy and wife Gena Offill all of Van Alstyne, daughters, Sharron Evans and Tena Brown also of Van Alstyne, grandchildren Paul and wife Emily Offill, Lance Offill and fianc Heather Stephens, Blake and wife Cindy Evans, Daniel and wife Karlie Kelley, Chris Brown, Marla Brown and fianc Dillon Chapa, Bailey Offill, Hunter Offill, Brayden Offill, and Emmalynn Offill.  She had five great grandchildren, KatyLu Offill, Marc Offill, Teagan Evans, Konstance Kelley and Kendrick Kelley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Offill, grandson Brad Evans, sisters: Elizabeth Schull, Dorothy Mae Fields, brothers William Arthur Patton, Julian Patton, and Charles Allen Patton.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne.  Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van
Alstyne,Texas. 903-482-5225.
