Mr. McKinney was born in Van Alstyne in January, 1877, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. He was prominent in Masonry, affiliated with the Mantua lodge at Van Alstyne.
While living in Van Alstyne Mr. McKinney served as superintendent of the Christian Sunday school for a number of years, he was a member of the school board and president of the Van Alstyne cemetery association.
In 1899 he was married to Miss Lola Neathery, who with their son James, two sisters, Misses Gresham and Margie Dell McKinney of McKinney and a number of other relatives survive him.
