for
Mrs. Birllie E. McKinney, 79, were held
Wednesday, November 10, at
the Morning Chapel CME Church of Van
Alstyne. She died Monday,
November 8, at 4:20 a.m. in a Van Alstyne
nursing home. Rev. T.G.
Kirkpatrick officiated, with burial in the Van
Alstyne Cemetery.
Mrs.
McKinney
was born in Van Alstyne, the daughter of the
late Baker and
Bycie Bowen. She married Henry McKinney
in 1910 in Van
Alstyne. She was a member of the Watts
Brown Chapter, 395, Order
of Eastern Star, and the Morning Chapel CME
Church.
Survivors
include
her son, Claude McKinney of Van Alstyne; three
brothers,
Phillip and Rev. Cecil Bowen, both of Sherman,
and William Bowen of
Portland, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Annie Mae
Bowen of Ballinger, Tex.;
one grandson, one great-grandson and several
nieces and nephews.
