Janie Earline
Loftice, age 85, went home to with her Lord
and Saviour and to reunite
with her husband of sixty-eight years on
Saturday, January 8, 2005 at
Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.
Janie was born on
February 19, 1919, in
Anna, Texas. Her parents were Randal and Sarah
Short. She married
Willie Loftice on November 13, 1934, in
McKinney, Texas. She was a
housekeeper, devoted wife, loving mother and
grandmother, and a
faithful Christian. She was a member of the
Sedalia Baptist Church. The
mother of eight children of her own, Janie
always made room for the
extras who came to her home to visit and many
of them called her their
second mom and were nurtured in their
spiritual walk because of her
faithfulness and her prayers for them.
Funeral services will
be Tuesday,
January 11, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Flesher Funeral
Chapel in Van Alstyne.
Brother Dennis Garner, pastor of Celebration
Fellowship Church in
Gunter and former pastor of Sedalia Baptist
Church and Brother Don Neil
of Solid Rock Ministry and one of Janie's
former Sunday School
students, will officiate. Burial will be in
the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Janie is survived by
her eight children,
four sons, William Loftice and wife, Neldine
of Garland, Charles
Loftice and wife, Brenda of Howe, Alfred
Loftice and wife, Sharon of
Van Alstyne and Richard Loftice and wife,
Barby of Van Alstyne; four
daughters, Lucy Wheeler and husband, Bill of
Howe, Kathleen Reeves of
Whitewright, Linda Horton and husband, J.D. of
Blue Ridge, and Cheryl
Loftice of Van Alstyne; two sisters, Alma
Whitley of Denison and Edna
McFatridge of Paris; twenty-two grandchildren;
thirty-one
great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Janie was preceded in
death by her
husband, Willie, parents, Randal and Sarah
Short, her son-in-law, David
Reeves, six brothers and three sisters.
The family will be at
the funeral chapel
from 1-8 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2005 and at
other times at the family
home in Van Alstyne.
