Dr. Leslie
Dead
Van
Alstyne , Sept. 8 - Dr. James L.
Leslie died here this morning about 1
o'clock, after an illness of several
weeks duration. The body was
taken in charge by the Odd Fellows of
this place, and the funeral will
take place at the M.E. church this
evening.
The
death of Dr. Leslie is a sad blow to
this community. He came to
Texas 38 years ago and for 37
years has lived at this
place. He has been foremost in
every public institution and by
sturdy moral character and truly
Christian spirit, had won the love and
admiration of the entire
community. He was a physician
who never
refused a call from the poor and
needy, a man whose purse was ever open
to the destitute, and a Christian
whose acts were ever
consistent. This little city in
deep mourning over his death.
