Higginbotham 1893 - 1986 Van Alstyne Leader July 25, 1958 P. 1 Funeral services for William Wellington Higginbotham were held in the First Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Robt. E. Jenkins of Dallas and Rev. A. W. Blaion of Sherman. Pallbearers were Less Clack, John West, Jim Christian, Carl Schooling, Nurvel Henry and Jim Chitty. Interment was in the Van Alstyne City Cemetery. Waldo Funeral Home of Sherman directed. Mr. Higginbotham was born on Nov. 19, 1883, in Albany, Kentucky, a son of the late Crawford and Martha Paige Higginbotham. He was united in marriage with Miss Willie Tunberville in 1910 in Van Alstyne. He came to Grayson County with his parents when 6 years old, and settled in Van Alstyne. He had lived and farmed in this area until retiring 11 years ago and moving to Dallas on account of ill health. He passed away in a Dallas hospital last Thursday at 2:50 a.m. after a 2-1/2 year illness. He was a member of the Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, James and Van Keith Higginbotham of Dallas, Weldon Higginbotham of Hiedelberg, Miss., and Dan Higginbotham with the U. S. Air Force, stationed at Fort Worth; by 3 daughters, Mrs. Buster Konkle and Mrs. Arthur Schooling, both of Dallas, and Mrs. Raymond Node of Sherman; by one brother, Reno Higginbotham of Whiterock, Texas; by two sisters, Mrs. Grover Stuteville of Whitewright, and Mrs. Jack Reeves of Dallas; by 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
