Lucy Leona Haun 3 December 1912 - 8 December 2009 Lucy
Leona Haun was born December 3, 1912 in the Kelly Community southwest
of Van Alstyne to William Russell Haun and Flora Matilda Haun.
She went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Pecan
Point Assisted Living Center at the age of 97. Services will be
held Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church
in Van Alstyne conducted by Rev. D. Glen Blackmon. Lucy attended high school in Van Alstyne and college in Denton at North Texas Teachers College (now the University of North Texas). She taught elementary school in Jameson, Altoga, Lone Star and Mantua before moving to Dallas to work for an insurance company. In 1942, she moved to Austin to work for the State of Texas in the social services department In 1976 she retired and in 1981 moved back to Van Alstyne. Lucy was a member of the United Methodist Women, a volunteer for the Van Alstyne Library, a member of the Van Alstyne Culture Club and the Quilt Guild. She gave many hours of willing service to God. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Norma England. Lucy is survived by one brother, Howard Haun and wife, Bettye of Van Alstyne; one sister, Alta David and husband, Ed of Van Alstyne; nieces, Floralee ROlen and husband, Gene of Tom Bean, Alice Graham and husband, Johnny of Melissa, Martinette Kemp and husband, Dan of Luella, Linda Dixon and husband, Monte of Van Alstyne, Kathryn Ellison of Van Alstyne, and Gaye Wagner and husband, John of Gaithersburg, MD; nephew, Michael Haun and wife, Julia of Plano; 21 great nieces and nephews; 28 great-great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-great nephew. Family visitation will be on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Flesher Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to the Van Alstyne Public Library, P.O.
