New London - William E. Hamon, 79, of New London, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday in a Tyler hospital after a  long illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in the chapel of Pearson Funeral Home in Overton with Rev. Robert Jones officiating.   Burial was held Wednesday morning in the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mr. Hamom was a native of Denton county and moved to New London in 1944 from Van Alstyne.  He retired in 1964 from Vaughan Production Co. as production foreman. He was a member of London Baptist Church and Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lorlie Hamon, New London; 2 sons, William E. Hamon, Jr.  of Tyler; and Claude F. Hamon of Portland; 3 sisters, Mrs. Clara O'Neal and Mrs. Nettie Brown, both of Oklahoma City; and Mrs. Frances West of Houston; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Members of the Reliable Sunday School Class of London Baptist Church served as pallbearers.
