Euilee Akins 5 September 1922 - 11 February 2008 Juanita Akins 9 March 1929 - 4 February 2008 Herald Democrat Wednesday, February 6, 2008 Van Alstyne - Services for Juanita Millie Akins of Van Alstyne will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 7 at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne with Jimmy Tarrant officiating. Mrs. Akins, age 78, passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home. Burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mrs. Akins was born on March 9, 1929 in McKinney, Texas, daughter of Avery and Evie (Eubanks) Murphy. On May 5, 1945, she married Euilee Akins in Howe, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Alstyne. Surviving are her husband, Euilee Akins of Van Alstyne; three grandchildren, Gary, Lance and Jenny Akins; one great-grandchild, Layla Akins; one brother, Pete Murphy and his wife, Lou of McKinney; and one sister, Charlotte Green of Rowlett, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Murry Akins Jr., Mark Akins, Greg Akins, Kent Akins, Eric Akins and Jamie Akins. Family visitation will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 6. VAN ALSTYNE -- Euilee Akins, 85-year-old Van Altsyne resident, passed away Monday, Feb 11, 2008 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at Flesher Funeral Home in Van Altsyne with Jimmy Tarrant officiating. Burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mr. Akins was born on September 5, 1922 in Bowling Green, Ky., son of Luther Akins and Vie Foster Akins. On May 5, 1946, he married Juanita Murphy in Howe, Texas. Pallbearers will be Murray Akins Jr., Greg Akins, Kent Akins, Eric Akins, Joe Young and James Neill Flannery. Surviving are his two sons, Pat Akins and Michael Akins and his wife, Susie, all of Van Alstyne; three grandchildren, Gary Akins, Lance Akins and Jenny Akins; and one great-grandchild, Layla Akins. Euilee's wife, Juanita Murphy Akins, preceded him in death on Monday, February 4, 2008. Family visitation was from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 13. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
