March 1959 pg.1 Funeral Services were held Saturday afternoon for Luke Weldon Gentry, who was killed in a truck-train collision at 7:15 a.m. last Thursday near Liberal, Kansas, on Highway 64, Conducting the service was Rev. Arthur Smith, pastor of the First Pentecostal Church of Durant, Okla., of which the deceased was a member, and by Rev. J.D. Stewart, pastor of the Baptist Church here. Interment was in the Van Alstyne City Cemetery. Mr. Gentry was born on March 17, 1927. He was a veteran of World War II. He was employed at the time of his death as a truck driver for Colby-A---- of Trenton. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Olee Gentry of Durant; by one stepson, Dan Day, of Durant; by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gentry of Van Alstyne; by four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Reynolds of Denison, Mrs. Bonnie Joe Nelson of Denison, Mrs. Doris Skipworth of Sherman and Paula Sue Gentry of Van Alstyne; and by one brother, Billy Gentry, of Plano.
