Vandiver, Sr., 73, were held at Bratcher Chapel Sunday, June 2, 1957 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Henry Ball of Tioga and Rev. Earnest L. Potter of Denison officiating. Interment was in Tioga cemetery with Bratcher in charge. Mr. Vandiver, a retired B&? mechanic for the Katy railroad, died in Katy Employees Hospital Friday, May 31 at 10:25 a.m. after four months of illness. Mr. Vandiver was born in Cooke County, Texas August 31, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Booker Tap Vandiver. He was married November 16, 1918 to Alice Scoggins. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He had worked for the Katy for 37 years until he retired in 1955. He was a past president of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. M.E. Vandiver, 1131 W. Munson; a son, M.E. Vandiver, Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Alice Gorrell, Denison; a brother, Joe H. Vandiver, Memphis, Tennessee; a sister, Mrs. Donna McCormick, Memphis; and three grandchildren.
