TIOGA MARINE KILLED IN ACTION Tioga - PFC. Royce Glenn Scoggins, 18, was killed in combat in Viet Nam, according to information received by his mother, Eula Mae Mitchell of TIoga. Glenn Scoggins of McKinney was his father. He was killed by a bullet wound in the head at Quang Ngal, Viet Nam. He joined the Marine Corps March 15, 1965, and had been in Viet Nam since January 26. Born October 2, 1947 in Sherman, he attended school in Collinsville and Tioga. Funeral services are incomplete but will be held in the Baptist Church of Tioga. Burial in City Cemetery at Tioga. The family expects the body to be brought to the states in a week or two. Beck Funeral Home in Pilot Point will handle arrangements. Other survivors include four brothers: Sammy Scoggins of Sherman, Ronad Scoggins of Whitesboro; Nickey Mitchell, Tioga; and Johnnie Scoggins of McKinney; two sisters, Mary Scoggins and Debra Mitchell of Tioga; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Baughman of Tioga and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Scoggins, Tioga; great-grandmother, Mrs. Nettie Roberts of Collinsville. Services for Eula Mae Scoggins Mitchell, age 93, of Tioga will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 27744 FM 121, Tioga, Texas. Rev. Bobby Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow at the Tioga Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Eula Mae passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne. She was born July 23, 1920 in Southmayd, Texas to Albie Parker and Mattie Elizabeth Roberts Baughman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tioga and was a retired Nurses Aid. Eula Mae is survived by her sons, Ronald Scoggins and his wife Kathy of Tioga, Sam Scoggins and his wife Niki of Denton, and Nicky Mitchell of Tioga. Daughters, Mary Newby and her husband Larry of Tioga and Debby Vinson of Denton. Brother, Roy Baughman and his wife Earline of Arlington. Sisters, Edna Hilliard and her husband Jack of Tioga and Elsie Primm of Avandale, AZ. 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Royce Scoggins and Manuel Roy Scoggins and 2 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174. Serivces are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas.
