Tioga - Funeral services for Billy Gene Mayo, 41, Tioga Oil Company president who was injured in an explosion on March 21, 1972, are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Tioga. Officiating will be the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. F.E. Baughman. Burial will be in the Tioga Cemetery. Mr. Mayo, president of the Mayo Oil Company, died Saturday night in Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Highly active in civic affairs, Mr. Mayo was a member of the Tioga School Board for eight years. Born January 31, 1931 in Hendrix, Oklahoma, he came to this area at the age of 2. He married the former Miss Betty McKnight on June 25, 1955. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tioga and a verteran of the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Mayo of Tioga; two sons, Jody Mayo and Britt Mayo, both of Tioga; his mother, Mrs. Roy (Bobbie) Hestand of Gordonville; father, Tracey Mayo of Sherman; one brother, John Mayo of Ardmore, Oklahoma; two stepbrothers, Jack Gurley and Joe Gurley, both of Sherman.
