Gillespie 5 May 1918 - 12 May 1980 WO W1 US Army WWII, Korea Star-Telegram October 4, 2012 Wilma Irene Gillespie went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, September 28, 2012, after several severe illnesses. Funeral : 30 p.m. Saturday, October 6, at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home Services are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center. Wilma was born to Charles Oscar and Sally Etter Wilson on October 16, 1920 in Gunter. She was the youngest girl of eight children. She was raised in Gunter where she graduated. She married Lawrence Conway Gillespie on December 21, 1940 in Fayetteville, N.C. They lived in Aubrey and were very active in their church. She moved to Fort Worth in 2004 to be near her daughter. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. She was also a member of Everman Chapter #624 Order of the Eastern Star. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, mother, father, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors: son, Wayne Gillespie and wife, Mary; daughter, Sandy Trimble and husband Rick; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
