PILOT POINT POST SIGNAL August 1, 1929 TIOGA MAN KILLED AT OKLAHOMA OIL FIELD Walter Alfred Brune, rotary driller for the Magnolia Company, was killed instantly at the St. Louis oil field near Shawnee, Oklahoma, last week when a part of the drilling machinery fell striking him on the head. The body was brought to Tioga Sunday evening and taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. George Thompson. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Christian Church, conducted by Elder H. G. Ball and Rev. Abernathy. Burial in charge of the Pilot Point Masonic Lodge, was made in the Tioga Cemetery. Mr. Brune was nearing the age of 30 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his widow, who was well known in Tioga as Miss Lucille Martin, his mother, six brothers and two sisters. The esteem in which Mr. Brune was held was amply evidenced by the mass of beautiful flowers that banked the casket and by the horde of people that overflowed the church and lawn at the funeral hour. A large crowd of out of town relatives and friends were present for the funeral. TIOGA CEMETERY Susan Hawkins © 2024 Grayson County TXGenWeb |
