Marie Louise Bit
30 April 1904 - 20 August 1994

Denison, Texas – Mrs. Bit was born in Roux Hainaut, Belgium, the daughter of Pierre and Julie Baffrory. She passed away at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
She attended Belgium schools. She married Eugene Bit in Brussels, Ixelles Parish, Belgium.
Before the German occupation of Belgium, Mrs. Bit ran a boardinghouse in Brussels and a hotel in the Ardennes Forest.  After coming to the United States in 1957 she worked as a governess.

Survivors include a son, Jean-Paul Bit of Sherman, Texas; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside memorial services were officiated by the Rev. Jeremy Myers, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Parish.





JEAN-PAUL BIT
17 March 1929 – 4 September 2013

SHERMAN - Mr. Jean-Paul Bit, of Sherman, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2013. Jean was born to Eugene Bit and Marie Louise Baffrory Bit on March 17, 1929 in Forest (Brabank), Belgium, of French nationality, and was naturalized as a United States Citizen in 1976, in Dallas, TX.
While growing up in Belgium, Jean acquired the love of cooking from his father and uncle, who were both Chefs. He continued to learn the trade on Brussels, where he received numerous certificates "en qualite de cuisiner". Jean-Paul received a job offer in Dallas, TX, and arrived in the United States on November 9, 1956.
 Several years later, he met and married Marie 'Monique" Louise Zanella, who was also of French descent. During their marriage, Jean owned and operated several restaurants in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, including a restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel, La Creperie, and Zanella's Restaurant. Jean also owned and operated restaurants in Illinois, New York, Tennessee and Oklahoma, before moving back to Texas. He was very loyal and conscientious in his trade, all the while performing all the assignments of the job willingly and enthusiastically. After his retirement, Jean moved to Denison/Sherman, where he remained until his death.
Jean was an active member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. His interests included family, friends, cooking, reading and his French television stations.

Mr. Bit was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and grandson, Aaron Edwards.
He is survived by his daughter, Monique Marcelline Bit-Edwards, of Mt. Pleasant; a son, James Steven Bit, of Sherman; grandsons, Nathaniel Edwards, of Georgia, and Gunner Smith, of Sherman; along with several cousins residing in France.
Jean touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.  Repose en paix, Monsieur Bit. II a ete un plasir de te connaitre.
