Fox McCullough 7 June 1912 - 7 June 1997 Mary Margaret McCullough, the youngest child of Charles Admiral and Helen Fox McCullough, passed away at her home on January 21, 2023 at the age of 70. Mary was born February 10, 1952. Outside of a few years in college, she spent her entire life on the family farm - caring for her elderly parents, assisting her brother in operating the farm and doting on her many beloved cats and dogs. Mary was an "old soul" who lived a quiet, simple, and pure life, loving the land and nature. She attended St. Joseph's Academy (now St. Mary's Catholic School), Sherman High School and the University of Dallas where she obtained a degree in history. As an avid reader and researcher, Mary's interests included the cattle and farming industry, the stock market, and the weather. She also had a passion for U.S., Texas and family history and took the initiative to gather and preserve a great deal of the family's Irish ancestry. Mary is survived by her sister, Patricia Vrla and husband, Al, of Sherman; 2 brothers, John McCullough and wife, Nita, of Sherman; and Charles McCullough and wife, Heather, of Federal Way, Washington; as well as 8 nieces and nephews for whom she served as a second mother: Bridget Jarrell, Sharon Vrla, Jennifer Schwarz, Chip McCullough, Murphy McCullough, Joe McCullough, John McCullough and Jeff McCullough. In addition, 14 great-nieces and great-nephews who will dearly miss her. Mary was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of St. Mary's Parish. A Rosary was held Thursday evening, January 26, 2023 at Waldo Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday morning, January 27, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Pallbearers were her nephews: Chip, Murphy, Joe, John and Jeff McCullough, and great-nephew, Trey McCullough. Mary was laid to rest in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or the SPCA of Texas.
