The Denison Herald Friday, August 12, 1921 pg. 2 CHILD DEAD FROM EATING POISON MIXTURE Sherman, August 12 - The body of 10-year-old Herbert Hudek, son of Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Hudek, who live about 6 miles southeast of Sherman, was buried in the St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, south of Sherman, Thursday afternoon. The boy came to his death Wednesday afternoon immediately after eating a mixture of molasses and calcium and arsenate, a poison used in the extermination of the boll weavil. It is stated that the child found the mixture on the porch of his home, and mistaking it for candy, on account of its sweet taste, swallowed some of it.
