Alvin was born in Sagerton, Texas, son of Louis and Ella (Suter) Schroeder. He passed away at the Clyde Cosper Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas.
On 29 April 1941, Alvin married Miss Lorene Zaludek in Whitesboro, Texas.
Mr. Schroeder served in the US Air Force during World War II from October 1942 to February 1946 and was stationed primarily in India.
Following the war he returned home and worked as a farmer and rancher in the Gunter and Southmayd, Texas, areas.
He was also an expert carpenter and was proud of the fact that he had built every home he had lived in, as well as a few others.
Alvin was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish, Sherman, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents 4 brothers, Oscar, John, Lee, and Harry Schroeder; and one sister, Esther Lubbers.
Mr. Schroeder is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lorene of Sherman; son, Lawrence Schroeder and wife, Karen, of Whitesboro; 2 grandsons, Joe Schroeder of Whitesboro and Jay Schroeder of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; 3 great-granddaughters, Ashleigh and Meghan Schroeder, and Amaya Truell; and a brother, Marvin Schroeder and his wife, Pauline,of Pilot Point, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Reverend Antonio Aureus at St Mary's Catholic Church.
Burial with military honors followed at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Schroeder, Jay Schroeder, Sammy Dolezalek, James Dolezalek, Lanny Jaresh, and Rick Faber.
Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman was in charge of Funeral arrangements.


Southmayd, Texas -  Graveside services for Helen Lorene Schroeder, 98, of Southmayd were held Friday afternoon, March 19, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with Father Merlito Abiog officiating. She passed on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Homestead, Sherman.
Lorene was born December 11, 1922 in Wichita Falls, Texas, daughter of Joe and Angelina Ermis Zaludek.  She met and married Alvin J. Schroeder on April 29, 1941 in Whitesboro.  They were married 73 years before he preceded her in death.  Lorene was known for her love of gardening and sharing with many people.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Lorene is survived by her son, Lawrence Schroeder and wife, Karen, of Whitesboro; 2 grandsons, Joe Schroeder of Whitesboro and Jay Schroeder and wife, Chelsea, of Whitesboro; 3 great-granddaughters, Ashleigh and Meghan Schroeder; and Amaya Truell; and one great-grandson, Gunner Schroeder.
