Mrs. Adlof was born in Clarksville, Texas, the daughter of John and Essie Jordan Jackson. She attended school in Clarksville.
She moved to Sherman, Texas in 1920, and on June 3, 1923 she married Herman Hugo Adlof in Sherman.
She
was a member of Sherman's St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was
active in the Women's Guild and the Columbian Ladies organizations.
She
was survived by her sons, James H. Adlof of Sherman, Bobby Charles
Adlof of Sevierville, Tennessee, and David Paul Adlof of Waxahachie,
Texas; daughters, Velma Adlof of Sherman and Margaret Buchanan of
Paris, Texas; brother, James H. Jackson of Sherman; sister, Mary Clyde
Branham of Sherman; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Reverend x officiating.

LocaL Contractor Hugo Adlof Dies

H.
Hugo Adlof Jr., whose name marks sidwalks throughout Sherman as a
result of his almost 70 years as a local concrete contractor, died
early Sunday at Sherman Nursing Home.
Adlof, 87, had been
semi-retired in recent years, but still worked into his final year at
Hugo Adlof Concrete, a business he and his father founded in Sherman in
1918.
Though he never held public office, Hugo Adlof Jr. was also
well known in the city for his many comments and opinions stated at
public meetings involving the school board and city council. He
was a frequent letter writer to the Sherman Democrat and most recently
had been a strong advocate of using existing building space to house
state prison cells.
"I get compliments on those (letter to the Editor) all the time," Adlof said in 1988 interview appearing in the Sherman Democrat.
Expressing
his love for the city, he stated in the same interview, "I've traveled
many a town and state - every one in the nation. But it always
feels pretty good to come back home. It's a nice quiet town; a
friendly town.".
Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Adlof will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Thomas Speiser will officiate. Burial will be at
St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements by Dannel Funeral Home.
Mr.
Adlof was born in Sherman Oct. 11, 1903, the son of Herman H. Adlof Sr.
and Ella Paine Adlof. He attended Sherman public schools as well
as business school.
On June 3, 1923, he married Ruby Lee Jackson in Sherman. She died in December 1988.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Knights of Columbus and was associated for many years with St. Mary's Cemetery.
Surviving
are three sons: James H. Adlof of Sherman, Bobby C. Adlof of McKinney
and David Adlof of Waxahachie; two daughters, Margaret Buchanan of Lake
Medina and Velma Adlof of Sherman; a sister, Mary Bollinger of
Missoula, Montana; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Rosary will be recited by St. Mary's Deacon James Adlof at 7 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home.
