Services were
held at 9:30 a.m. in the Waldo Funeral Home chapel for Joseph Alfano, 55,
service station operator of 1406 St Travis St., who died Tuesday at a Dallas
hospital.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Michael T. Flanagan of St
Mary’s Catholic Church with burial at St Mary’s Cemetery.
Mr. Alfano was
born in Macon, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alfano and was
married to the former Helen Jones. He operated the Sooner Truck Stop & Caf
on Highway 75 North, Sherman, Texas and was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World
War II.
Survivors are his wife and son, Billy Alfano, both of Sherman;
daughter Kathleen Alfano of Sherman; sisters Mrs. Marianne Johnson of Waretown,
New Jersey and Mrs. Roy Dagion of Healdton, New Jersey; and one
grandchild.

Helen Jones

Mrs. Alfano was
the daughter of Howard and Helen Jones. She passed away at Wilson N. Jones
Medical Center in Sherman, Texas.
Helen was a graduate of St. Mary’s High
School in New Jersey. She retired as a waitress for the Kettle restaurants
chain.
Her husband, Joseph Alfano preceded her in death in
1978.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Helen Jones of Tallahassee,
Florida; daughter Kathleen Johnson of Sherman; son, William Konzer of
Gainesville, Texas; brother, Howard Jones Jr. of Florida, New York; sister,
Patricia Graw of Tallahassee; grandchildren Rick and Sarah Johnson of
Sherman.
Graveside services were officiated by Father Antonio Aureus of
St Mary’s Catholic Church, Sherman.
Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of
the funeral arrangements.
