Joseph Roeder was born in Germany and died at home five miles north of Sherman, Texas.
Joseph lived in Grayson County, Texas for about 30 years prior to his death.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Roeder; six children and one granddaughter.
Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sherman.
ELIZABETH ROEDER
14 October 1862 – 26 August 1934
Mrs. Roeder was born in
Switzerland and came to the United States when she was 24 years old, locating in
Joplin, Missouri, where she married Joseph Roeder, who preceded her in death in
1924. They moved to Grayson County, Texas in 1883 where she made at home in the
Sperry community near Dorchester, Grayson County, Texas the rest of her
life.
She died in Muenster, Texas
while visiting Mrs. J.H. Schmitz, one of her daughters. For the last eight
years of her life, she had lived with her daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Amelia Fallon
in the Sperry community.
Survivors include one son,
C.J. Roeder of near Whitesboro, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. Schmitz, Mrs.
Fallon, Mrs. H.L. Dobson, of Luella, Texas, Mrs. C.M. Davis of Sherman, Texas
and Mrs. Tony Dagnan of Southmayd, Texas; and 12 grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at the
home her daughter Elizabeth Fallon. A funeral mass was celebrated at St Mary’s
Catholic Church, Sherman, by the pastor, the Rev. Joseph O’Donoho.
