Philip J. Mischkot 24 December 1923 - 24 July 2010 Irene Mary Mischkot 21 June 1925 - 21 February 2008 Wed 31 December 1945 Philip Mischkot Jr. was born in Tacoma, Washington to the late Philip and Anna Osterman Mischkot. He passed away at Texoma Healthcare, Sherman, Texas. Following high school, Philip joined the US Navy. From 1941 to 1947, Mr. Mischkot proudly served his country. While serving in the Northern Pacific aboard the CL-9 USS Richmond, Philip earned many accommodations including being named the youngest Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. After the war, Philip and Irene Wirkkanen were married on December 31, 1945 in Butte, Montana. They were married over 62 years when Irene passed away in February 2008. While living in Butte, Philip studied Metallurgical Engineering at the Montana School of Mines and graduated in 1951. Philip was employed at Kaiser Aluminum and in 1963 a job transfer moved the Mischkot family to Sherman, Texas. Initially employed as a production supervisor, Mr. Mischkot was promoted to Plant Manager in 1970 and worked in that capacity until retiring in 1983. In retirement, Mr. Mischkot stayed active and served on numerous volunteer boards and committees. He was especially active with the Sherman Housing Authority where he served on the board of directors for 26 years and was instrumental in the construction of the Rosa Viola Hill Smith Center. He also did volunteer work for the Sherman Noon Rotary, St. Mary's Cemetery, and the Boy Scouts of America, which included several construction projects at Camp Grayson. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish. Mr. Mischkot was a loving husband and father of seven children. Their many childhood memories include month-long family vacations traveling across the country, and their dad's pancakes and raviolis. Philip had many hobbies including woodworking, auto-mechanics, gardening, and tinkering with electronics. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wilma Nicholson, Rosanne Marozzo, and Paulette Miller; grandson, Justin May, great-granddaughter Emma Katherine Smith; and his wife, Irene. Left to cherish his memories Mr. Mischkot is survived by four sons, Philip Mischkot III and wife Sandy of Sherman, David Mischkot and wife Patty of Euless, Texas, Bill Mischkot and wife Brenda of Denison, Texas and Eddy Mischkot of Sherman; three daughters, Mary Lafevers and husband Brad of Americas, Georgia, Cheryl David and husband Larry of Orange, Texas and Barbara May and husband Jim of Ft. Collins, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers; Jim Mischkot and wife Sandy from Waterloo, Montana and Frank Mischkot and wife Anna of Butte, Montana and one sister Hazel Hannel from Tacoma, Washington. Deacon Albert Miller, St Mary's Catholic Parish, recited the Rosary at Waldo Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Mary's Catholic Church, Father Jeremy Myers officiating, assisted by Deacon John LeBlanc. Pallbearers were Daniel Mischkot, John Mischkot, Stephen Mischkot, Joseph Mischkot, Jim Graham, and Nick Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Lisa Martin, Susan Smith, Meredith Lafevers, Allison Erasmus, Jenny Kay, Laura Whitaker, Justin May, and Emma Katherine Smith. Military honors were provided by the United States Navy. The Mischkot family wishes to thank their Dad's "Guardian Angels", Cindy Belcher, Rikki Brown, and Davena Owen for their compassionate care. These three angels made Mr. Mischkot feel secure and comfortable in his last years. They will always be part of the Mischkot family. Mrs. Mischkot was born in Butte, Montana, to the late Nestor and Helmi (Hill) Wirkkanen. Irene went to join her Lord, when she passed away at her home in Sherman, Texas surrounded by her family. She fought the good fight and finally won her battle with Parkinson's disease and Lewey Body Dementia. She kept a gentle spirit and a big heart and was well liked by everyone that has had the opportunity to cross paths with her. The last four and one half years, she resided in assisted living in Americus, Georgia, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Mary Lafevers and her angels, Teresa Covin, Linda Brown, Roschunda McGrady, and Gloria Lester. After graduating from Butte, Montana schools in 1943, she married Phil J. Mischkot, Jr. on December 31, 1945, in Butte, a love story that lasted 62 years. The couple was blessed with seven children. She was known to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as "Mema". She was also known as Granny, Grandma, and Honey but most importantly she will be remembered for her unconditional love and great hugs. Irene and Phil moved their family to Sherman in 1963 where Phil worked for Kaiser Aluminum. In addition to being the best mom to seven children, Irene worked as a charitable organizer, keypunch operator with the Anaconda Copper Mining Company, and as a tax preparer at H & R Block. She was a devout Catholic who raised seven children modeling to them her true faith and grace. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, cooking, traveling, gardening, and a great cup of coffee. One of her favorite enjoyments was sitting on her back porch watching the geese on the lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one grandchild, Justin May. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, Irene is survived by her husband Philip of Sherman; seven children, Philip Mischkot III and his wife Sandy of Sherman, David Mischkot and wife Patty of Euless, Texas, Bill Mischkot and wife Brenda of Denison, Texas, Ed Mischkot of Sherman, Mary Lafevers and her husband Brad of Americus, Georgia, Cheryl David and husband Larry of Orange, Texas, and Barbara May and husband Jim of Fort Collins, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. A rosary was recited by Deacon Larry David at Waldo Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sherman, with Rev. Jeremy Myers of the church officiating assisted by Deacon Larry David. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery with grandsons Daniel Mischkot, John Mischkot, Stephen Mischkot, Joseph Mischkot, Jonathan Lafevers, and Jim Graham serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Lisa Martin, Susan Smith, Meredith Lafevers, Allison Lafevers, Jenny Mayfield, Laura Whitaker, and Justin May. 25 December 1946 - 18 September 2012 Lieutenant Mischott III was born in San Diego, California, the son of John Mischcott Jr and Irene Mary Wirkkanen Mischcott. Philip passed away at his residence in Sherman, Texas. On 21 December 1969, he married Miss Sandra Livermore. Philip joined and was a Lieutenant in the Navy and a Pilot during the Vietnam War. He ran a Submarine search unit along the coast of Vietnam and the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. He graduated from North Texas University. He was a member of Nu Phi which became TKE. Philip started working for Texas Instruments in 1979 and continued working as a part of Raytheon before his retirement in January of 2010. He loved nature, music, playing the guitar and he was a huge Beatles fan. Philip was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many. Philip was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memories, he was survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Lisa Martin and husband Jason of Denison, Texas; son, Daniel Mischkot and wife Ashlee of Colbert, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Addison, Albany and Avery Martin and Zane Mischkot; three brothers, David Mischkot and wife Patty of Euless, Texas, William "Bill" Mischkot and wife Brenda of Denison, Eddy Mischkot of Sherman; three sisters, Mary LaFevers and husband Brad of Americas, Georgia, Cheryl David and husband Larry of Orange, Texas and Barbara May and husband Jim of Estes Park, Colorado; uncle, Jim Mischkot and wife Sandee of Whitehall, Montana; uncle, Frank Mischkot and wife Anna of Butte, Montana; and aunt, Hazel Hanel of Tacoma, Washington. A Rosary was recited by Deacon Larry David, St Anthony's Cathedral, and Beaumont, Texas at at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sherman, with Reverend Antonio Aureus of the Parish officiating, assisted by Deacon Albert Miller of St Mary's and Deacon Larry David.
